The Power of Giving

Creating waves of hope....
Neighbors 4 Neighbors seeks to nurture the giving nature in each of us.  By giving, we receive a new perspective and appreciation for the world around us, opening our hearts to learn from the diversity of people with whom we interact.

"It is in giving that we receive." St. Francis of Assisi

"There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward."  Kahlil Gibran

"Those who give cheerfully give twice- once to others, once to themselves." Anonymous
Neighbors4Neighbors from the Heartland was formed from an outpouring of love and support for the people tragically affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the fall of 2005.  As our core group of initial volunteers came together it was patently clear that the power of giving is self-evident.  When a group is motivated by a common cause, great things can be achieved.  Setting aside socio-economic, professional, political and religious differences and uniting for the betterment of mankind was and is an experience worth sharing.  N4N has made three relief missions to date, donated more than 60,000 pounds of goods and raised more than $10,000.00 for devasted communities in Louisiana.
Skip Lunch for Louie

Louie Bailey was homeless, but he was so much more to many.  Those who crossed his path were forever enlightened by him.  Louie sold flowers or whatever fare he could to keep his belly from rumbling.  Local business owners lent an unsolicited hand by giving him lights for his adult tricycle, buying flowers and most importantly, treating him like a human being.

When Louie was killed by a motorist, the donated lights that had adorned his bike had been sold for more immediate needs.  While the lights of his bicycle have dimmed, the spirit that is Louie Bailey will never be extinguished.  Let us join, if only for four days to cast light upon the dark shadows of those that society often forgets.

Will you join us? What do you pay for lunch?  Will you SKIP LUNCH FOR LOUIE? Instead of a burger and fries, a salad with grilled chicken or a quick can of a protein concoction, will you donate it to Neighbors4Neighbors? Will you donate it to help raise awareness of the working homeless and of the good works of Hillcrest Transitional Housing?
Neighbors 4 Neighbors from the Heartland is a 501c3 organization based in Kansas City, Missouri.
